A recent survey by the UK’s largest healthcare charity, Nuffield Health, has recently revealed that over 10% of people in Leicester are now living with a partner they met at the gym. Jay Brewer, Head of Physiology, Nuffield Health says “It’s great to hear that more people now see the gym as a place to socialise and maintain good health. It’s a great space to meet a friend or a partner because there is a common interest. The endorphins we release when we exercise, also known as the happy hormone, reduce the levels of cortisol in the body therefore reducing our stress levels and generally improving our overall wellbeing and making us more approachable.”
A good combination of exercise, socialising and nutrition can also positively impact the 1 in 15 of us who reportedly suffer Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) during the winter months.
